Eugene Francis Arnold, age 84, of Dolan Street in Farmington, died Tuesday morning, July 26, 2005 at SunBridge Care in Wolfeboro.
Born November 14, 1920 in Dayton, Ohio, he was a son of the late William C. and Fuschia (Hilford) Arnold.
A United States Army Veteran of World War II, a Sergeant, he served with the Coastal Artillery from 1939-1944.
He played minor league baseball with the Cleveland Indians A team.
Eugene retired in 1980, after 30 years with the Department of Defense, having served at Wright Patterson, Presidio at San Francisco, CA and retiring at Rock Island Arsenal in Illinois.
A resident of Farmington for the past 20 years, he came from Davenport, Iowa.
Survivors include his wife: Eileen L. “Peg” Arnold of Farmington, 2 daughters: Cherylyn A. Randolph LeBrun of Loudon and Jean L. Breton of Farmington, 5 grandchildren: Pascha Marlin-Griffiths, Eli Marlin, Leah B. Wright, Claire and Alice Iverson and 1 great grandson: Paul Jakob Griffiths. Also a step-son: D. Neal Iverson of Queensbury, NY.
Eugene was the last of 5 siblings.
A Graveside Service will be held on Friday July 29, 2005 at 1:00 pm at the New Hampshire State Veterans Cemetery, 110 DW Highway RTE 3, Boscawen, NH with Rev. Dr. Douglas Andrews, pastor of the First Baptist Church of Farmington, officiating. There are no calling hours, family and friends are welcome to the graveside service.
