Fletcher Adams, age 87, of Amity, died Saturday, May 31, 2008.
He was born on October 29, 1920 at Amity, the son of Hob Adams and Lucinda Catherine Hurt Adams. On October 19, 1970, he was married to Peggy Thomasson. He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Raymond Adams, Herman Adams and J. C. Adams; and one sister, Pearl Page.
A U.S. Army veteran of World War II and the Korean Conflict, he was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and American Legion. He was a retired timber contractor and cattleman.
Survivors are his wife, Peggy Adams of Amity; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Sam and Jeanice Adams of Glenwood and Franklin and Helen Adams of Sulphur Springs, Texas; two sisters and one brother-in-law, Verna Sue Anderson of Kirby and Betty and Charles McNeil of Amity; three sisters-in-law, Ozell Adams of Amity, Pauline Cash of Amity and Bonnie Jean Sayles of Colorado Springs, Colorado; and several nieces and nephews.
Services will be held at 2:00 PM, Monday, June 2, 2008 in the Davis-Smith Funeral Home Chapel in Glenwood with Rev. John McAnally officiating.
Visitation will be Sunday, 2:00 PM until 4:00 PM.
Interment will be in the Friendship Cemetery under the direction of Davis-Smith Funeral Home, Glenwood.
