WEST COLUMBIA%%Services for George Cleveland Adams, 66, of West Columbia, will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, February 14, 2008 in the Chapel of Thompson Funeral Home of Lexington. Officiating will be Pastor Louis Reese. Burial will follow in Southland Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday evening at the funeral home. Mr. Adams passed away Monday, February 11, 2008. Born in Adairsville, Georgia, he was a son of the late George and Mildred Coxwell Adams. He was a member of First Church of the Nazarene of Columbia and attended Gateway Christian Fellowship. He retired in 2000 from South Carolina Electric and Gas Company. He was a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers and worked in the electricianís office at the South Carolina State Fair over twenty years. Mr. Adams was a former Scout Master with Troop #369.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Carolyn Bradwell Adams; daughter and son-in-law, Debbie and Legree Oswald; son and daughter-in-law, Tim and Kelly Adams; eight grandchildren, Jamie Oswald and his wife, Kelly, Lauren Adams, Will Adams, Caleb Adams, Drew Sandifer, Michael Sandifer, Matthew Sandifer, Hannah Sandifer; sisters, Alice Hooker of Columbia, Pat Woods, Ann Green, and Nancy Coley all of Rome, GA; and brother, Don Adams of Jacksonville, Fla; brother-in-law, Paul R. Price; and two nephews, Jimmy Adams and Ray Adams. A heartfelt appreciation to Wade H. Hammond, Jr., father figure and spiritual mentor.
Mr. Adams was preceded in death by his daughter, Pam Adams Sandifer and brother, Robert Wayne Adams.
