Glenn P. Anderson

Glenn Powell Anderson, 52, of Forest Drive, Waynesboro, died Tuesday, May 20, 2008, at Augusta Medical Center in Fishersville.

He was born April 22, 1956, in Waynesboro, a son of J. Powell and Ruth Van Cleve Anderson.

He was a member of St. John's Episcopal Church, served in the Navy, and was a Phi Beta Kappa at James Madison University.

Beginning in 1989, Glenn taught math and science at Kate Collins Middle School, where he touched the lives of many students. He was long active in girls soccer, coaching the JV team at Waynesboro High School and many area travel teams.

In addition to his parents he is survived by his wife, Kathy Anderson of Waynesboro; two daughters, Elizabeth Jean and Jennifer Carol Anderson, both of Waynesboro; five brothers and spouses, Donald and Carol Anderson of Atlantic Beach, Florida, Stephen Anderson of Waynesboro, Gregory and Susan Anderson of Charlottes-ville, Van and Gail Anderson and Rodney and Linda Anderson, all of Waynesboro; one brother-in-law and spouse, Bob and Marilyn Fitch; 10 nieces and nephews, Kathryn and Shawn Casey, Anna, Elizabeth, Rachel, Matt, Lauren, Christopher, and Jonathan Anderson, and Robbie and Elizabeth Fitch; and special friends Margie and David Burgess and their children, Kristen and Lauren.

A memorial service will be conducted 11 a.m. Friday, May 23, 2008, at St. John's Episcopal Church by the Reverend Kim Webster. Interment will be private.

The family will receive friends from 5:30 until 7:30 p.m. Thursday, May 22, 2008, in the cafeteria of Kate Collins Middle School.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Waynesboro High School Girls Soccer, c/o Mel Morris, 1200 W. Main St., Waynesboro, VA 22980.

The family requests no public viewing.
