Newport, NH-Gordon E. Anderson, 88, of Summer Street, Newport, NH died December 5, 2003 at the New London, NH Hospital surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Danbury, CT on November 21, 1915 and lived primarily in Brookfield, CT until he and his wife moved to Castleton, VT in 1965. He was a resident of Castleton from 1965 until 2001 when, after the death of his wife of 59 years, he moved to a retirement home in Newport, NH to be near one of his daughters. Gordon graduated from Henry Abbott Technical School in 1932 and is a US Army Veteran of WWII. He was employed by several companies in the Danbury area, lastly Barden Corp. where he was a toolmaker until 1965 when he and his wife moved to VT. He was employed by General Electric in Rutland, VT until his retirement in 1977. Gordon and his wife raised two daughters and were active in the communities in which they lived. He served on the Broofield Board of Selectman, the Brookfield Board of Education and was a Volunteer fireman from 1938 to 1965. In VT Gordon was a lister for the town of Castleton, a member of the Masonic Lodge and an active member of the local American Legion Post. He was a devoted volunteer at Rutland Regional Medical Center from 1984 to 2001. He is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Faye and Roger Titus of Wytheville, VA and Norah and Robert Peterson of Grantham, NH. His grandchildren, Daniel Titus of Manchester, CT, Casey Titus Davis of Kitty Hawk, NC, John Peterson of Seattle, WA and Carrie Peterson of Thetford, VT and his sister, Barbara A. Doucette of Sandy Hook, CT also survive him. He was predeceased by his wife, Eugenia, a sister, Helen A. Barnsley of Bridgeport, CT and a brother, Russell Anderson of Brookfield, CT. His family will hold a private celebration of Gordon's !
