Harold Philip "H.P." Alexander
Harold Philip "H.P." Alexander, 74, of Stuarts Draft, Virginia, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, November 24, 2011, in Richmond, Virginia, while visiting family for the holiday. He was born on April 22, 1937, in Augusta County, Virginia, a son of the late E.G. Alexander Sr. and Reba Cash Alexander. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, E.G. Alexander Jr.; and brother-in-law, Ernest "Buck" Baber. H.P. was an Army veteran, and an active member of White Hill Church of the Brethren in Stuarts Draft. He was the owner operator of H.P. Alexander, Inc. for over 50 years, and also owned Augusta Rental and Sales in Stuarts Draft. He enjoyed traveling, listening to music, and spending time with his grandchildren. He is survived by his wife, Madeline Alexander; a son, Darrell Alexander, his wife, Stella, and their children, Libbie, Catherine and Heth; a daughter, Jennifer Alexander of Lancaster, Pennsylvania; a sister, Hilda Lee Baber of Crimora; a sister-in-law, Mary Frances Alexander of Stuarts Draft; nephews, Doug Alexander, Steve Babera and Neil Baber; and a niece, Vicki Brdar. A funeral service will be held 3 p.m. Sunday, November 27, 2011, at the White Hill Church of the Brethren by the Reverend James T. Chappell. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends in the church for an hour prior to the service. Memorial contributions may be made to the White Hill Church of the Brethren Building Fund, 749 Old White Hill Road, Stuarts Draft, VA 24477. McDow Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
