Helen May Cline Helen May Cline, 93, of Charlottesville, passed away on Friday, September 20, 2013, at the Hospice House on Park Street. She was born on March, 8, 1920, in Chicago, IL, the daughter of the late Frank Edward Rogers and Ethylen "Helen" May Gruber Rogers. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Jacob Max Cline; a son, James Cline; and a brother, Robert John Rogers. Also preceding her in death was her stepfather, Thomas Bartlett; and dear friend Donald E. Powell of Charlottesville. Survivors include her son, Robert Cline and his wife, Gloria, of Phoenix, AZ, Kathryn Thomas and her husband, Gary, of Palmyra, VA; grandchildren, Chris Fairfield and his wife, Shelly, of Frisco, TX, Mike Cline of Phoenix, AZ, Nathaniel Cline and his wife, Brittany, of N.C., Richard Cline and his wife, Sandy, and their family, of Phoenix, AZ, Josh Thomas of Lynchburg, VA, and Chelsi Woodson and her husband, Chris; great-grandchildren, Jordan and Maya Fairfield of Frisco, TX and Derek and Zachary Cline. Other survivors include special former daughter-in-law, Elaine Cline; and dear friends, Frances Mc Dowell and Elsie Thomas. Mrs. Cline graduated from Austin High School in Chicago, IL. She married Max Cline on February 14, 1946, and again on May 7, 1984. She graduated from Champaign Cosmetology and then operated a home beauty shop for 20 years, and then later managed a shop. In 1973, she moved to Charlottesville, retired from Leggett at Barracks Road, where she was manager and buyer for the Cosmetic Department. She was kind, loving and giving and enjoyed time with family and friends, children and grandchildren. Her main hobbies were crossword puzzles, (she did four a day),reading and trivia shows. A memorial service will be held 5 p.m. Monday, September 23, 2013, at the Hill and Wood Chapel. The Reverend Sidney Craig will officiate. Interment will be private on Tuesday, September 24, 2013, in Martinsburg, WV. Friends may send condolences to her family at www.hillandwood.com.
