Herman Adams, age 72, of Amity, died Friday, May 16, 2003.
He was born on October 26, 1930 at Amity, the son of Hobb Adams and Cindy Hurt Adams. On December 28, 1957, he was married to Catherine Gilliland.He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, J.C. Adams and one sister, Pearl Page.
He was a U. S. Army veteran of the Korean Conflict and a Christian in his faith. He was a former employee with the Pike County Road Department and Winston Doster Trucking.
He is survived by his wife, Catherine Adams of Amity; four brothers, Raymond Adams of Kirby, Fletcher Adams of Amity, Sam Adams of Glenwood and Franklin Adams of Sulphur Springs, Texas; two sisters, Verna Sue Anderson of Kirby and Betty McNeil of Hickory Creek, Texas, and several nieces and nephews.
Services will be held at 10:00 AM, Monday, May 19, 2003 in the Caney Valley Missionary Baptist Church with Bro. Bobby Golden and Bro. Keith Howell officiating.
Interment will be in the Caney Valley Cemetery under the direction of Davis-Smith Funeral Home, Glenwood.
Visitation will be Sunday from 2:00 PM until 4:00 PM.
Pallbearers will be Winston Doster, Harlan Duren, Sonny Tolleson, John Burnett, Ronald Whisenhunt, John Thornton and Pete Hill.
Honorary pallbearers will be the Pike County Road Department, Dr. Timothy Webb, Berna Smedley, the staff of 4 West of St. Joseph's Mercy Health Center, Dr. William Beebe and staff, and Caney Fork Hunting Club.
