Hilda Mae Thompson Cupp Hilda Mae Thompson Cupp, 81, of Grottoes, passed away on Sunday, August 18, 2013, at her home. She was born in Upper Tract, West Virginia, on August 24, 1931, a daughter of the late Raymond and Esta (Propst) Thompson. Hilda was a member of the Grottoes Church of Christ. She was united in marriage on February 4, 1954, to John Henry Cupp, of Grottoes. Surviving in addition to her husband are two daughters, Penny Sue Cupp Hawes and husband, Timothy, of Weyers Cave and Amy Dawn Cupp Taylor and husband, Lance, of Carlisle, Pennsylvania; two sons, David Wayne Cupp and wife, Sallie, of Winchester and Michael Kevin Cupp and wife, Rosette, of Grottoes; two sisters, Almeda Whetzel and husband, Chester, of Clover Hill and Louise Smith and husband, Elwood, of Melbourne, Florida; two brothers, Raymond Thompson Jr. and wife, Betty of Weyers Cave and Sheldon Thompson and wife, Cheryl, of Keezletown. She is also survived by five grandchildren, Adrienne Cupp, Johnathon Hawes, Cole Taylor, Ashley Taylor, and Nicholas Shifflett; and one great grandson, Gunnar Cupp. She was preceded in death by three brothers, Richard Thompson, Frankie Thompson, and Hancil Thompson. A funeral service will be held at the Johnson Funeral Service Chapel in Grottoes, 1 p.m. Wednesday, August 21, 2013, with Barry Gantt, Malcolm Furrow, and Roger Hart officiating. Burial will follow at Eastlawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive relatives and friends on Tuesday, August 20, 2013, at the funeral home from 6 until 8 p.m. The casket will be closed.
