Howard Rex Carpenter, the son of Jesse Earl and Leona Ray (Porter) Carpenter, was born Feb 2, 1938 in Red Oak, Iowa. He passed after a short illness on Nov 4, 2011, at the age of 73.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 37 years, Betty M. (Akers) Carpenter, his parents, his son Keven Krueger, his grandson Keven Carpenter, 2 great granddaughters, Kierstyn and Kayla Kepferle, seven sisters and one brother.
He is survived by his wife of the home, Karen (Barnes) Carpenter of 15 years, son David Carpenter Sr. and wife Liz, foster son Randy Stone Sr, daughter Vickie Blatt and husband Dave, Daughter Yolanda Ferguson, all of Independence, MO, 2 step-daughters Rosie Hashburger and Kim Barnes, both of Fremont, NE, 21 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, sister Donna Novak and husband Bill of Mead NE, brothers Dewey Carpenter and wife Darlene, Bernard Binns and wife Jerry, life long friend Kenny Milgrove and wife Opal, all of Red Oak, IA and too many to count nieces and nephews.
He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and unforgettable uncle., an avid KC Royals and Chiefs fan. He loved country music, dancing, playing pool, fishing, being onery and spending time with family. He worked as a die caster at Lyon's Die Casting in Buckner, MO and later retired from Blue Valley Machine in K.C., MO.
A Celebration of his life will be held Saturday, November 12, 2011 at Pleasant Grove Bible Church, 4916 Lee's Summit Road, K.C., MO, 64136. Visitation will be at 1:00 P.M. with service at 2:00 P.M.. A reception will follow at Eagles Club, 3717 24 Highway, Independence, MO, 64052. Donations and flowers can be sent to 404 W. South Ave, Independence, MO 64050.
