Irene (Desforges) Cahill, Called home by the angels in her 91st year on Sunday March 24th at the Catholic Memorial Home, Irene (Desforges) Cahill wife of the late John F. Cahill peacefully went home surrounded by her loving family. Irene was the daughter of the late Joseph & Azilda (Tetu) Desforges. Deceased sisters, Yvonne Pilotte, Lea Belair and Yvette Cahill and 3 brothers Emile, William and Leo Desforges. She is survived by 2 daughters, Eileen Harrington (John) and Carol Cahill. Two sons, John Cahill (Louise) and Brian Cahill (Debbie) She is survived by 8 grandchildren, Christine Harrington, Michele Dufault (Moe), Suzanne Travassos (Jamie), Kimberly Garrison (Kevin) Lisa Berube, John Harrington (Kristyn), Dustin and Daniel Cahill. 9 Great grandchildren, Amanda, Ciara, Kayla, Gabriella, Jamie, Kyle ,Dorian, Lauryn and Bradyn. 3 Great great grandchildren, Ava, Tristan and Alyza.
Mrs. Irene Cahill was a former seamstress for many years and also worked at Doolan Apts for Meals on Wheels program. Some memories shared by her family are babysitting her grandchildren and taking them to the beach, Lincoln Park and many other activities throughout her life including food fights. She had a love for knitting and sewing in which she shared throughout the family. She enjoyed watching her great grandchildren play with her jewelry and dressing up in her clothing and sharing special time with them. She also had the pleasure of being a god parent to one of her grandchildren, John Harrington in which she took great pride in. Also throughout her life she enjoyed traveling taking long walks and having "family nights" with her family. She travelled to her son Brian Cahill's home in Florida where she really enjoyed their homemade brownies, hospitality and grandchildren.
A loving Thank You to all the Catholic Memorial Home Staff, who were her extended family for 5 years and who gave her compassionate and loving care!
We will all miss her infectious laugh and loving ways and how she made us all feel so special in our own individual ways. Each and every one of us can think of her in our own memories that we hold so dear to our heart.
Arrangements are private at Boule Funeral Home and a memorial mass will be held at the Catholic Memorial Home on April 1st at 9:30a.m. for friends and family.
