ENOSBURG FALLS - Izola E. Blaisdell, age 92, passed away unexpectedly Saturday morning October 25, 2003 at Fletcher Allen Health Care in Burlington.
She was born June 30, 1911 in Fletcher the daughter of the late Emerson & Fluella (Wetherbee) Spaulding.
Izola was the last surviving member of the BFA Fairfax class of 1930. She was a 1932 graduate of Johnson Normal School, after which she taught in a one room schools house in Fletcher for three years. Izola then married and began her life fulfilling vocation of wife, mother, grandmother, and homemaker which she achieved with the respect of all.
For several years Izola cooked at Camp Missisquoi and she will always be remembered as a wonderful cook. She was also an active member of the Enosburg Falls United Methodist Church. She had been a member of the Grange since the age of 14 in Fletcher and Enosburg, and had held the office of Lady Assistant Steward for several years. Izola was also a member of the Martha Washington Chapter OES and was the Grand Representative of Nebraska in Vermont. She was a member of the Franklin Lamoille Retired Teachers Association.
Izola is survived by her husband Willard whom she married August 21, 1934; 2 sons, Emerson Blaisdell of Enosburg Falls, and Kermit Blaisdell and his wife Lois of Colchester, ; 3 daughters and their husbands, Sandra & Robert Lemnah of Burlington, Patricia & Ernest Ross of Memphis, TN, and Deborah & Alan Grandshaw of Enosburg Falls; her 8 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren, Elizabeth and her husband Stephen Hu and their children Bryon and Meredith; Alisha and her husband Michael Adams and their children, Abigail, Alizabeth, Adianna and Michael Adams; Anissa and her husband Christopher Seguin and their children Ross, Emily and Samuel Seguin , Alexa and her husband Scott Harrison and their children Austin and Ashley Harrison, Aneda Ross and her husband Phillip Murray and their children Zachary, Vallary and Hillary; Jesse Grandshaw; Rebekah Blaisdell and Sarah Blaisdell; 2 sisters-in-law, Marion Spaulding and Ardelle Spaulding; several nieces and nephews, including Eva and Tom Lancaster with whom Emerson has spent a great deal of time. Izola was predeceased by her son, Dean Blaisdell; 2 grandchildren, Jennifer Lemnah and April Ross; 3 brothers, Wetherbee, Harmon, and Wesley Spaulding; 3 sisters, Madeline Chase, Mona Hooper and Vera Sweet.
A memorial service will be held Tuesday morning at 10:00 at the Enosburg Falls United Methodist Church with Pastor Cheryl Heater officiating. Interment will follow at 2:00 PM at the Binghamville Cemetery in Fletcher. There will be no visiting hours.
