James Adcock, age 68, of Camden, died Wednesday, October 10, 2007. He was a member of Fairview United Methodist Church. He was a Camden City Alderman, and a AARP driving instructor for five years. He was a former Camden city police officer, formerly employed by Dwight Lester at North American Van Lines, and a part-time employee of Century 21. He retired from Atlantic Research as a maintenance technician and boiler operator.
Mr. Adcock is preceded in death by his parents, Lon and Dovie Adcock; brothers, Lon Adcock, Jr. and Richard Adcock; and two sisters, Dorothy Merrell and Ruby Barkhimer. He is survived by his wife of 20 years, Barbara Adcock of Camden; three daughters, Joy Word and husband, Robert of Camden, Jan Lasiter and husband, Rev. Blake of Bentonville, and Denise Colby and husband, Tom of Nevada; two stepsons, Brad Marlar and wife, Cheyla of Hampton and Stan Marlar and wife, Carol of Camden; sister, Winnie Priddy of Camden; grandchildren, Dillon and Cole Word, Christopher, Taylor, Blain, and Kendall Marlar, Krista and Terra Davis, and Grant and Jonathan Colby; and many nieces, nephews, and wonderful loving friends.
Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Friday at Proctor Funeral Home with burial in Memorial Park Cemetery. Rev. Jim Cross and Rev. Mike Wilkie will officiate the service.
