Janet S. Allen, 74, of Anderson, passed away December 11, 2010 at Edgewater Woods after an extended illness.
She was born June 20, 1936, the daughter of Glen and Gertrude (Pettigrew) Craig in Anderson, and was a lifelong Anderson resident. She had owned and operated Bud & Joe’s Tavern for over 30 years. She was also a record breaking sales associate for Tupperware.
Janet was a past president of Tavern Owners Association of Indiana and a longtime member of the Roosevelt-Kennedy Club.
She is survived by her son, Lonnie Allen of Anderson, two daughters, Kim Allen Richardson of Syracuse and Tina Allen Houdek of Anderson; six grandchildren, Amanda Allen, Lindsey Richardson, Eric (wife, Tiffany) Richardson, Kyle Houdek, Madison Short and Memphis Short; one great grandchild, Corbin Stanley; sister, Nancy Laswell of Anderson; and brother, Joe Craig of Chesterfield and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Glen and Gertrude Craig; husband, James E. Allen and several brothers and sisters.
Services will be 2:00 p.m. Tuesday at Brown-Butz-Diedring Funeral Home with Rev. Steve Gettinger officiating. Burial will be in Anderson Memorial Park Cemetery.
Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
