John "J.C." Claude Craun
John "J.C." Claude Craun, 58, a resident of Mt. Sidney, died at his home on Thursday, December 11, 2008.
He was born on June 2, 1950 in Rockingham County, the son of the late Edwin N. Craun, Sr. and Louise Rhodecap Akers.
J.C. graduated from Fort Defiance High School in 1968, and was employed with Blue Ridge Lumber for 13 years. He was a member of the NRA, a country music singer for 25 years and an award winning vocalist and musician. He affiliated with the Methodist church in Mt. Sidney.
He is survived by a son, Tate Dalton of Mt. Sidney; a sister, Sara Markham of Mt. Sidney; a brother, Edwin N. Craun Jr. and his wife, Tracy, of Waynesboro; a special great- nephew, Logan Turner; numerous nieces and nephews, special friends including his former wife and nurse, Michelle Craun.
J.C. will be cremated and a memorial service will be held 2 p.m. Sunday, December 14, 2008, at the chapel of the Lindsey Funeral Home in Weyers Cave with Mike Carpenter and Pastor David Knott officiating.
