John Arsenault Obituary

1938 - 2005
SOMERSWORTH John Edward Arsenault, 67, of 401 Tri City Road, died Saturday, Aug. 20, 2005, at Wentworth-Douglass Hospital in Dover.

He was born in Rochester on May 18, 1938, and was the son of Richard and Elizabeth (Lozier) Arsenault. He was raised in Berlin and attended St. Charles Grammar School and Berlin High School.

For many years he was employed in the shoe industry and worked for Granite State Rubber Co. in Berlin. When he moved to Rochester in 1965, he was employed with Roberts Shoe Company.

He was a resident of Somersworth since 1980. For the past 20 years, he was the co-owner of J.J. Mini Mart in Somersworth.

He loved horse racing. He particularly enjoyed the outdoors where he looked forward to moose watching. He loved to drive and was always ready for those Sunday rides with the family.

He was a communicant of St. Martin Catholic Church, where he was a member of the Mercy of Jesus Charismatic Prayer Group.

Family members include his first wife and best friend whom he was planning to remarry, Gloria (Cloutier) Therrien, of Somersworth; a daughter, Brenda Ann Pelletier, of Dover; a stepson, Jimmy Williams, of Somersworth; stepdaughters Tammy Drew, of Berlin, and Melissa Therrien, of Wilton, Maine; and several other stepsons and stepdaughters.

Other family members include two grandchildren, Jessica Laura Arsenault and Benjamin John Arsenault, both of New Durham; and step-grandchildren, Christopher Fortier, of Berlin, and Desiree Therrien, of Wilton, Maine.

He was predeceased by his nine brothers and five sisters. He was also predeceased by his son, John Robert Arsenault, who died in 2000.

Calling hours at Bernier Funeral Home, 49 South St., Somersworth, will be on Monday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday at 10 a.m. in St. Martin Catholic Church, West High and Maple Streets, with the Rev. Aaron Pfaff, pastor, as celebrant. After cremation, burial will take place in St. Anne Cemetery, Berlin.
