Jose "Rodrigues" Arruda 83 of Fall River died on Saturday. He was better known as Mestre Jose Rodrigues. Jose was the husband of Maria Ilda (Almeida) Arruda, to whom he was married to for 56 years.
Born in Arrifes, Sao Miguel, Azores, he was the son of the late Jose and Maria (DaPonte) Rodrigues. A lifelong Mason, he worked for 30 years in the Fall River area and surrounding areas. He worked for Boyd's Lane of Tiverton for many years. He was a member of St.Anthony of Padua Parish and the former Our Lady of Health. In addition to his wife. he leaves a daughter Mary-Jo Medeiros (husband John) and a son Manuel Arruda (wife Madalena), along with grandchildren Craig Medeiros, John Medeiros Jr., Chelsea Arruda
and Garrett Arruda. He also leaves a sister Maria Jose Almeida and several nieces and nephews. Visitation TUESDAY 4-8 PM His Funeral will be held WEDNESDAY at 8am from the A F ALMEIDA & SON FUNERAL HOME 1309 Globe St, Fall River with a 9am Mass at St Anthony's Church at 9am.
