Kathleen Borden Alexander
Kathleen Borden Alexander, 86, a resident of Mt. Sidney, died Tuesday, August 12, 2008, at King's Daughters' Nursing Home in Staunton, where she received special care.
She was born in Augusta County on April 25, 1922, and lived her entire life in the New Hope and Mt. Sidney communities. She graduated from New Hope High School and Dunsmore Business School. She formerly worked at DuPont, was a homemaker, and a member of Salem Lutheran Church where she was a nursery teacher, church secretary, and member of the Ladies Circle.
On December 16, 1945, she married Stanley R. Alexander, who preceded her in death on November 18, 2004.
Surviving are four daughters and their spouses, Rosa Linda and Dennis Garber, Vickie and Steve Crawford, Beverly and Keith Robertson and Terri and Berry Grant, all of Mt. Sidney; six grandchildren, Brad Crawford, Shawn and Sheryl Garber, Zachary and Trent Robertson, Isaac Grant; and a special friend and roommate Brenda Haymaker.
Mrs. Alexander was preceded in death by her parents, Guy and Lula Mowry Borden; a brother, James R. Borden; and a sister, Phyllis Martin.
The family will receive friends 7 until 8:30 p.m. Thursday, August 14, 2008, at the Lindsey Funeral Home in Weyers Cave.
A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Friday, August 15, 2008, at Salem Lutheran Church with Pastor Christopher Carr officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery.
Active pallbearers will be Dub Stansberry, Ona F. Lambert, Allen Bouknight, Alec Christian, Neil Alexander, Larry Moore, Danny Alexander, and Jim Todd. Honorary pallbearers will be Bob Bright, Melvin Huffman, Hoye Sours, Ralph Mezzoni, Leon Sheets, Ronnie Strickler, Russell Landes, and David Byers.
