Kenneth Acker Obituary

1945 - 2008
Kenneth Acker was born and raised a Roman Catholic. Though he was not a church going public professor, Ken lived his faith spiritually, privately and perpetually as a wholesome, thoughtful, caring human being.

Ken loved his wife Donna with all his heart and soul. He loved her profoundly and profusely. He loved her completely. His life was punctuated by his devotion to building security and comfort for Donna.

Ken was a caring giving friend to those in need. He bent over backwards to be supportive and helpful in the most profound ways to friends and family in distress. He was abundantly generous with his time, talent and treasures when friends and family faced daunting challenges.

Ken spent his entire working life as a field technician for Bell Atlantic. During the Vietnam War he took his communications skills to sea in the United States Navy aboard the USS Compass Island as an Interior Communications Petty Officer. His service along with that of millions of other heroic Americans was instrumental in ending the Cold War. Following retirement from the telephone company he worked in the telecommunications industry reclaiming precious metals from surplus and out of service electronics equipment.

Kenís life long empathy for vulnerable creatures especially dogs led him in retirement to design innovative ventilation screens to protect pets left unprotected in overheated automobiles. Hundreds of New England pets now breathe easier because of Kenís sensitivity and inventiveness.

Ken a native of Newark and Kenilworth NJ was a 1963 graduate of Jonathan Dayton High WSchool in Springfield New Jersey.

Ken the son of the late Joseph and Irma Acker is survived by his wife Donna Acker of New London NH, a sister Lois Urban of Hendersonville NC, three nieces and a cousin.

Funeral service will be held at Chadwick Funeral Services 235 Main Street New London NH on October 23 at 2:00 P.M. Calling hours will precede the funeral from 1:00 to 2:00 P.M.

In lieu of flowers memorial remembrances may be made to the New Hampshire Humane Society P.O Box 572 Laconia NH 03264, or the Lake Sunapee Region Visiting Nurse Association 107 Newport Rd. New London NH 03257
