PROSPERITY%%Services for Lance Arthur Achelpohl, 56, of Prosperity, will be held at 2pm Saturday at Trinity Baptist Church, officiated by Rev. Donald P. Davis, Rev. John M. Stoudemayer, and Rev. Thomas O. Mosser. Burial will follow at Elmwood Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Judge Barry Koon, Randy Floyd, Willie Ringer, Rhett Fellows, Andy Ackerman, and Billy Ackerman. The family will receive friends from 10:00am until 12 noon Saturday at Thompson Funeral Home of Lexington. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Shriners’ Hospital for Children, 950 W. Faris Rd., Greenville, SC 29605.
Mr. Achelpohl died Wednesday, February 23, 2005. Born in Greenville, he was the son of the late Milton Arthur and Barbara Jean Mosser Achelpohl. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force having served during the Vietnam War. He was co-owner of Achelpohl Roofing & Sheetmetal, Inc. with his brother Wayne. Mr. Achelpohl was a member of Mt. Tabor Lutheran Church in Little Mountain and a former member of Trinity Baptist Church. He was the former president of the Newberry Shrine Club and a member of Masonic Lodge #281, Little Mountain.
Surviving are his wife, Christina “Chris” Hallman Achelpohl of Prosperity; daughters and sons-in-law, Connie Achelpohl Malpass and Rob Malpass of West Columbia, Kristin Achelpohl Jensen and Bobby Jensen of Columbia, Kara Achelpohl Hugg and Jonathan Hugg of West Columbia; brothers, Wayne Davis Achelpohl of Prosperity, Michael Louis Glover of Columbia; step-mother, Hope L. Achelpohl of Rhode Island; step-sisters, Fern Early, Chris Klinkhammer, and Lynn Hearne, all of Rhode Island; step-brother, Maurice Flewelling of Santee; grandchildren, Andrew Robert Malpass, Joshua Lance Malpass, Jaidyn Kristina Malpass, and Austin Michael Hugg.
