Myrtle Lee Sims Ackerman SCRANTON, SC- Myrtle Lee Sims Ackerman, 81, the widow of the late Harris Ackerman, went to be with the Lord on Friday, August 23, 2013. She was born in Clarendon County on July 29, 1932 to the late Walter Dudley and Drucilla Beard Sims. Mrs. Ackerman was raised around Turbeville, SC. She was a member of Beulah Free Will Baptist Church of the Pentecostal Faith. Mrs. Ackerman was known and loved throughout her community for her charity and service to people. Prior to her illness, she was faithful in helping her friends and neighbors with transportation needs, food, and visits. She was known far and wide for her delicious food, especially her biscuits and pound cakes. Mrs. Ackerman loved the Lord and was a faithful member and worker in her church for over 40 years. She loved and served her family, whether it was cooking and praying for them or working with some of them at Ackerman's Used Cars. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Frank Eugene Brown, Sr., a son Walter Allen Brown, four brothers and one granddaughter. She is survived by her sister, Rosa Lee Moore of Manning, SC; her children, Patricia (Bob) Summers of Sumter, SC, Gene (Sharon) Brown of Marion, SC, Margaret (William) Browder of Florence, SC, Bubba (Mildred Ann) Ackerman of Scranton, SC, Joe Ackerman of Scranton, SC and Vickie (Mike) Hulon of Florence, SC; fifteen grandchildren and eighteen great-grandchildren. A visitation will be held at 2:00 PM on Sunday, August 25, 2013 at Brockington Funeral Home, Lake City, SC. The service will follow the visitation at 3:00 PM at Brockington Funeral Home Chapel.
