Madine Aycoth Obituary

1937 - 2013

Dateline: Monroe, NC

Madine Aycoth, 75, met her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, face to face on Sunday afternoon, February 3, 2013. She passed peacefully for she believed in the truth of John 11, when Jesus said, “I am the resurrection and the life. Whoever believes in me, though he die, yet shall he live.”

Madine was born in Chesterfield County, SC on May 21, 1937, daughter of the late E. Blease and Lela Starnes Morton. She was a cosmetologist in the Monroe area for 40 years and was the owner/operator of several salons. After her retirement she enjoyed working in her flower and vegetable gardens, baking and traveling. A service to celebrate her heavenly homegoing will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Wednesday, February 6, 2013, in Trinity Baptist Church, 2613 Concord Hwy., Monroe. Visitation with the family will precede the service beginning at 9:30 AM in the fellowship building at Trinity Baptist Church. Interment will follow at Lakeland Memorial Park Cemetery, 1901 Lancaster Ave., Monroe.

Madine was preceded in death by her husband of 35 years, James F. Griffin, who passed in 2006 and her brother, Staley Morton, who passed in 2005. She is survived by her husband of 5 ½ years, Billy F. Aycoth; daughter, Joyce D. Bigham; son, Randy J. Carnes; five stepchildren, Debbie Deese, Denise Henton, Tammy Griffin, Billy Aycoth, Jr. and Sam Aycoth; 12 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. Madine is also, survived by sisters, Dorothy McManus, Daisy Simpson, Mildred Long and brother, Brooks Morton.

Her family is saddened by her passing, but rejoices in knowing that for her to be with Christ “Is Far Better.” (Philippians 1:23) Memorials may be made to Gideons International, Union County West Camp, P.
