Margaret Allen Obituary

Margaret Hunt Allen Margaret Hunt Allen, 89, of Waynesboro, went to be with her Lord on Wednesday, August 14, 2013, at home with family. She was born on October 30, 1923, in Alberene, Virginia, a daughter of the late Walker Cole and Maggie Wood Hunt. She was a charter member of Wayne Hills Baptist Church and kept the nursery. She was a wonderful cook and housekeeper and she loved and spoiled her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed camping at Douthat State Park with her husband, daughter, and son- in-law. Margaret also enjoyed going to Florida during the winter, after her husband retired. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Alvin, of 65 years in 2003; her brother, Douglas Hunt; and a great- grandson, Tristan McLaughlin. Survivors include a daughter, Carolyn Allen Claytor and Oliver of Crimora; a son, Charles A. "Chuck" Allen and Ginny of North Carolina; a sister, Charlotte Patterson of Waynesboro; a brother, Bobby Hunt of Fishersville; seven grandchildren, Michelle "Shelly" Hall and Kenny of Elkton, Tonya Mutherspaw and Ricky of Swoope, Jody Dever of Verona, Joseph, Adam, Hannah Rose, and Emma Allen, all of North Carolina; three great-grandchildren, Philip and Ryan McLaughlin and Dylan Dever. The family would like to thank her extra special friends, Victor and Pat Shifflett for their special love and care. They are truly angels here on earth. A graveside service will be held 2 p.m. Monday, August 19, 2013, at Augusta Memorial Park with the Reverend Dr. Danny Campbell officiating. The family will receive friends from 7 until 8 p.m. Sunday, August 18, 2013, at McDow Funeral Home, 1701 West Main Street, Waynesboro.
