Mrs. Marie Rose Alix, 95, of Newport died peacefully May 4,
2007 in Newport with her family at her side.
She was born October 11, 1911 in Yamaska,Quebec a daughter of Edmund and Rosilda (Lamere)Cardin. On May 30, 1931 she married Antonio Alix who predeceased her on December 20, 1987.
Mrs. Alix was a member of St. Mary’s Star of the Sea Catholic Church in Newport. She also held memberships with the Daughters of Isabella and Ladies of Anne. She organized bus trips to go to pilgrimages to visit St. Anne De Beaupre in Quebec City. She attended mass every morning and evening and she received her drivers license in her 60’s.Mrs. Alix and her late husband lived in Newport Center
where they owned and operated a dairy farm for many years before moving to Newport.
She is survived by her children: Laurier Alix and his wife Shirley of Thevillages,Florida, Pauline Dagesse of Newport, Gerard Alix and his friend Jody of Lady Lake,Fla and Newport Center, Fernand Alix of Littleton,NH and by eight
grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. She is also survived by a brother Raoul Cardin of Cheyenne,Wyoming and a sister Archange Lefebvre of Rochester,NH and by several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a son-in-law Roger Dagesse and by granddaughters Susan and Pamela.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Tuesday May 8,2007 at St. Mary’s Star of the Sea Catholic Church in Newport with the Rev. Yvon Royer celebrating a mass of christian burial. Interment will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery.
Should friends deisre, contributions in her memory may be made to the St. Mary’s Church, 191 Clermont Terrace,Newport,Vt 05855. Friends may call from 9:00 A.M.until 10:30 A.M. on Tuesday May 8, 2007 at the funeral home where members of the Daughters of Isabella are requested to meet at 9:30 A.M.
