Melvin Akers Obituary

1936 - 2007
Melvin E. Akers, age 71, of Linda Lane in Sanbornville, died suddenly, Wednesday morning, September 26, 2007, at home.

Born August 13, 1936 and raised in Andover, Maine, a son of the late Merle and Ruth (Bailey) Akers. He served an apprenticeship at General Electric in Lynn, Mass., where he was employed for 17 years.

He resided on Lovell Lake in Sanbornville, since 1966, where he built his home, his pride and joy, where, for the past ten years, every summer, he would host a General Electric reunion of friends.

Mel was a builder of homes.

An avid skiier, he enjoyed hiking, bicycling and loved to take family and friends water skiing.

Survivors include his wife of 22 years: Cynthia L. (White) Akers of Sanbornville, and children: Dana & Martha Jaquith Akers of Woburn, MA, Ben Akers & Meg Parker & Isabella Malia Akers of Park City, Utah, Kristan E. Scott & Sumner Scott, Addy, Ashley & Phillip of Barrington, Russell J. Loncaric & Kathy Chick Loncaric, Mike & Drake of Kailua, Hawaii, Rebecca L. Loncaric & Brandon Horton of Pensacola, FL and James Warren Akers of Sanbornville, his brothers: Leon & wife Trudy Akers & family of Andover, Maine, Charlie & wife Linda Akers & family of Alaska, also his former wife: Jean Akers of Franconia.
