Orville Blodgett Obituary

1927 - 2006
RICHFORD – Orville W. Blodgett Jr., 79, passed away Friday evening August 4, 2006 at Haven Health Care in St. Albans following a long illness.

He was born in Richford on February 7, 1927 the son of the late Orville & Mae (Ariel) Blodgett.

Orville had been a resident of Richford most of his life. He attended schools in Richford and then enlisted in the U.S. Army during WWII and served as a Ward Master at Fitzsimmons General Hospital in Colorado. Following his honorable discharge Orville met the love of his life, Elizabeth Mercy they were married on August 6, 1955. He worked as a cattle dealer and construction worker and retired from A.L. St. Onge Construction in the late 1990’s. He was a former member of the Richford American Legion Post # 12 of Richford. He enjoyed going to lawn sales and playing lottery tickets.

He is survived by his wife Elizabeth (Mercy) Blodgett; a son, James Blodgett of Richford; 3 daughters and their husbands, Deborah & Roger Willey of Lowell, Jodie & Michael Gagne of Swanton, and Joanne & Cedric Lanphear of Montgomery; 8 grandchildren, Ben Willey and his wife Keri, Amanda Willey, Joshua Lanphear and his fiancé Jenny Gaudette, Katie & Michelle Gagne, Elisa, Emily & Ashley Blodgett; 3 great grandchildren, Brenna, Grace & Amos Orville; a brother and his wife, Robert & Pauline Blodgett of Dannemora, NY; a sister-in-law, Beulah Richardson of McCormick, SC; several nieces and nephews. He also leaves his special friends & neighbors on Harlem St. He was predeceased by a brother, Harry Blodgett.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday morning August 9, 2006 at 11:00 AM at the Spears Funeral Home, 140 Main St., Richford with Rev. Frank Eksterowicz officiating. Interment will follow in St. Isidore’s Cemetery in Montgomery Center.

Visiting hours will be held Tuesday evening from 6-9 PM at the Spears Funeral Home in Richford.
