Robert Bernard Appel Jr. Robert Bernard Appel Jr. of Madison, passed away at the Martha Jefferson Hospital, on Saturday, December 31, 2011.
Mr. Appel was born to Robert B. Appel Sr. and Mary Agnes Smith Appel, in Rhode Island, on October 20, 1948, and served his country in the United States Air Force and retired from American Woodmark Corporation, in Orange. Surviving Mr. Appel is his wife, Linda Appel of Madison; his step-son (whom he was extremely proud of), S-Sargeant. Logan Saunders and his wife, Mindy; his step-daughter, Samantha; his siblings, Richard Appel of California, Nancy Appel of Virginia Beach, Michael Ellis of Virginia Beach and Gina Colegrove of Maryland; his step-father, Richard Ellis of Maryland; and his grandchildren, Cristopher Batten, C.J. Batten, Branden Batten, Connor Roberts and Cora Saunders.
He is preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Edward Ellis.
A celebration of life will be held at 8 p.m. Thursday, January 5, 2012, at the chapel of the Clore-English Funeral Home.
The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m.
Interment will be held at a later date at the Culpeper National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions should be made to the Wounded Warriors Project.
