Rochester…Robert F. Bamford, 57, of Cochecho River Estates, passed from this life in the early morning hours of Thursday, July 29, 2004 at Portsmouth Regional Hospital, following a brief illness.
He was born in Newburyport, Mass. on May 9, 1947, the son of Raymond and Blanche (Eaton) Bamford. He graduated from Newburyport High School in 1965. He had served in the Army National Guard during the Vietnam War
After living in Newburyport and North Reading, Mass, he lived in Milton, NH for many years, prior to moving to Rochester in 1995.
Mr. Bamford was a registered representative for John Hancock Financial Services for over 20 years and an owner of Bamford Insurance Agency in Dover.
He was an avid bowler all of his life, and was recently inducted into the SENHBA Hall of Fame. He also enjoyed trips to Foxwoods, and walking along Hampton Beach, eating his favorite pizza.
His family was his pride and joy, especially his 7 grandchildren, to whom he was affectionately known as “Papa”.
He was pre-deceased by two grandchildren, Grace in 1995 and Sebastian in 1998.
Survivors include his beloved wife of 36 years, Nancy (Young) Bamford of Rochester, and formerly of Stoneham, Mass.; “his boys”, Daniel and his wife Monique of Gonic, Keith and his wife Lynne of East Rochester and Eric and his wife Jaime of Milton; his grandchildren, Rachel and Xavier of Gonic, Kaelyn, Olivia, Hannah and Josephine of East Rochester and Natasha of Milton; a sister, Sandra Foley and her husband Jim of Palm Coast, FL; and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation at H.J. Grondin & Son Funeral Home, 177 North Main Street, Rochester will be Sunday from 5 to 8 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Monday at 2 p.m. at St. Leo Church in Gonic. Burial will follow in Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Gonic.
It has been suggested that memorial contributions in Bob’s name be directed to a charity of your choice.
