Mr. Romeo G. Allen, 83, of New Hampton Rd., Franklin, died at The Manchester VA Nursing Home in Manchester on Dec. 7, 2005.
He was born in Franklin on May 7, 1922 the son of Edward and Aimee (Roy) Allen. Romeo was a lifelong resident of Franklin.
During World War II, he served as a sgt. in the US Army 52nd Armored Infantry. He was taken prisoner by the Germans and was a POW from Dec. 1944 until he was liberated in April, 1945. Mr. Allen was a recipient of the Purple Heart Medal.
For many years, he was a self-employed painting contractor in the area until his retirement. He was a member of Franklin VFW Post #1698 and was a communicant of St. Paul Church.
Mr. Allenís wife, Antonia (Kliszewski) Allen died in 2003.
Family members include his 3 sons: Michael B. Allen of Merrimack, Edward L. Allen of Franklin, and Steven R. Allen of Midlothian, Va.; 9 grandchildren, 2 great granddaughters, a brother, Leon Allen of Franklin, and nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by a brother, Raymond Allen and a sister, Annette Moody.
Visiting hours will be held Friday, Dec. 9, 2005 at Thibault-Neun Funeral Home, 143 Franklin St., Franklin, from 7-9 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday (Dec.10) at 10 am in St. Paul Church.
