Ruth W. Alestock
Mrs. Ruth Willie Mae Alestock, 57, a resident of Waynesboro, passed away on Monday, December 28, 2009, at Augusta Health in Fishersville. She had been in declining health for the past two years.
She was born on May 26, 1952, in Staunton, the daughter of Richard Crawford of Waynesboro and the late Wilhelmina Ross Crawford.
Ruth attended Rosenwald School and graduated from, Waynesboro High School. She was employed with Hershey Chocolate for over 20 years. She was a member of Mount Bethel Baptist Church where she was an usher, faithful deaconess and sang in the choir.
She was a very devoted mother and grandmother. She enjoyed taking family trips and spending time with her family. She had a strong faith in God. She will be truly missed.
She leaves to cherish her memory, her husband, Winston Alestock, whom she marred in September 1987; a son, Lawrence Brown and a daughter, Charisse Robinson, both of Waynesboro; a granddaughter, Da'jahnea Robinson; three grandsons, Jordan and Jayden Brown, and Devante Robinson; a brother, David Crawford and his wife, Ann, of Stuarts Draft; a sister, Sylvia Wade of Harrisonburg; Lula Lee of Waynesboro, who was a second mother to her; three nephews, two Godchildren. Many special friends and close family members also survive her.
In addition to her mother, she was preceded in death by a brother-in-law, Royal Wade; and mother-in-law, Ocie Alestock.
A funeral service will be held 10 a.m. Saturday, January 2, 2010, at New Hope United Methodist Church, with the Reverend Willie Washington, the Reverend Connie Crawford, and the Reverend Teresa Woodson, and Elder Clyde Brown officiating. Burial will follow at Mount Bethel Cemetery.
Family and friends may view her body from 11 a.m. until 5 p.m. Friday, January 1, 2009, at the Lindsey Funeral Home in Weyers Cave.
