Shirley Arivett, age 67, of Newhope, died Friday, January 19, 2007.
She was born on January 22, 1939, at Coleman, Oklahoma, the daughter of Johnny Howard and Bonnie Mae Lattie Howard. On March 22, 1956, she was married to Vernon Arivett. She was preceded in death by her parents.
She was a member of the Bissell Chapel Community Church in Newhope and was retired from Weyerhaeuser Company.
She is survived by her husband, Vernon Arivett of Newhope; two sons and daughters-in-law, Gary and Cherrie Arivett of Athens and Timmy and Charlotte Arivett of DeQueen; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Yvonne and Royce Pate of Athens, Renee and Mark Collins of Athens, and Patricia Arivett of Newhope; two brothers, Quentin Howard of Texarkana and Leonard Howard of Plainview; four sisters, Ivene Arivett of Irving Texas, Christene Crump of Langley, Helen Arivett of Langley, and Ella Black of Mount Ida; six grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Services will be held at 2:00 PM, Tuesday, January 23, 2007, in the Athens Holiness Church with Bro. Dale Crawford officiating.
Visitation will be Monday, 6 PM to 8 PM.
Interment will be in the Athens Cemetery, under the direction of Davis-Smith Funeral Home, Glenwood.
Pallbearers will be Paul Arivett, John Crump, Daniel Crump, Bruce Howard, Greg Black and Jeffrey Black.
