Vera Owens Epps INDIANTOWN - Mrs. Vera Owens Epps, 99, widow of Samuel Wesley Epps, passed away Saturday, October 12, 2013 in Kingstree hospital. Mrs. Owens was born in Indiantown, SC, a daughter of the late John Albert and Nora Patrick Owens. She was the owner and operator of Owens Grocery. And she was an avid gardener. She was a member of the Indiantown Presbyterian Church. Served as Chairperson of the Social Committee, and was Circle Leader for many years. She was a graduate of Indiantown High School, valedictorian of her senior class, and attended Bob Jones University. She was a wonderful mother, sister, aunt and second mother to several family members. A member of the Iris Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star. She is survived by her daughter, Wendy Epps; brother, Roger Patrick (Patsy) Owens; sister, Gayle (Bob) Owens Charles. She was predeceased by two brothers, Philip Owens and Harold Owens; sisters, Violet Swope, Katherine Hanna, Bert Brown, Gene Tisdale and Dorothy Thompson. Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM, Monday, October 14, 2013 in the Indiantown Presbyterian Church. Burial, directed by Morris Funeral Home of Hemingway, will be in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends after the service in the church fellowship hall. The family would like to express thanks to the compassionate doctors, nurses, and staff of Williamsburg Regional Hospital. The doctors and staff of Palmetto Primary Care Physicians, and Beacon Hospice nurses and caregivers. We would especially like to thank her niece and caregiver Phyllis "Betty" Owens for her gentle loving care and to Sweetie Pie her constant companion and protector.
