Virginia M. “Ginnie” Ahern, 85, of Park Street, Attleboro, a loving sister and aunt, passed peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Sunday, May 31, 2009 in Attleboro.
Born in Attleboro on April 16, 1924, Ginnie was a daughter of the late William Francis Ahern and Cora Adeline (Burgess) Ahern. She was raised and educated in Attleboro and was a graduate of Attleboro High School, Class of 1942.
Ginnie was employed as an office manager at Horton Angel Company in Attleboro and later the Cook Horton Company in North Attleboro for a period of forty years until retiring in 1988. Later she was employed at Leach & Garner Company in Attleboro. A lifelong resident of Attleboro, Ginnie resided over thirty years on Tiffany Street.
Ms. Ahern enjoyed golfing and bowling and was a member of the Attleboro Council of Church’s Bowling League. Dedicated to her family, Ginnie enjoyed entertaining at home with her family and friends.
Virginia is survived by a sister: Marion E. Dodge of Norton; three nieces: Pam Werner of Rehoboth, Brenda Demers and Sharon Hewitt, both of Attleboro; and many grand-nieces and grand-nephews. She was the beloved sister of the late Mary F. Hewitt and Oila Mehrman.
Family and friend are kindly invited to attend visiting hours on Thursday, June 4, 2009 from 3 PM – 6 PM in the Duffy-Poule Funeral Home, 20 Peck Street, Attleboro followed by a Funeral Service in the Funeral Home at 6 PM. Private cremation will follow and Ginnie will be laid to rest at a later date in St. John’s Cemetery, West Street, Attleboro.
