Allenstown – William C. Atkins Jr., 45 of Allenstown died June 3, 2008 at his mother’s home after losing a long, courageous battle with cancer.
Bill was born in Manchester, NH on June 19, 1962 a son of William Atkins of Hooksett and Janice (Mitchell) Atkins Lamarche of Allenstown.
He was raised in Merrimack and attended Merrimack Schools. He left school to join the Army and served three years in Germany and in the states. He received his High School diploma in the Army.
Bill had lived in Florida and Arizona. Upon returning to NH he became employed at NH Hydraulics in Merrimack, working there for the last 10 years before taking ill.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing, baseball, and football games and trips to the casinos.
Bill was pre-deceased by his maternal grandparents, Eva & Edward Mitchell, and his paternal grandparents Marjorie and Charles Atkins.
Bill departs as a much loved son, brother, uncle and friend. He did not complain and faced the last months of his life with dignity, courage, humility, and love. Family and friends grieve the loss of Bill but at the same time have a great belief that he has gone to a place where the hunting is plentiful, the streams are well stocked for fishing and he has been greeted by the loved ones gone before him.
In addition to his parents, members of his family include his step-parents, Richard Lamarche of Allenstown, and Priscilla Atkins of Hooksett, three sisters and three brothers in-law, Joan & James Morgan of Weare, Donna & William Barnett of Allenstown, and Sharon and Jay Payson of Manchester, five step-brothers, Richard, Gerard, Steven, Christopher, and Eric Lamarche, estranged wife & best friend, Holly Atkins and her children Jessie & Craig, ten nieces and nephews, and a very special great-nephew, Jameson.
Calling hours will be at the George R. Rivet Funeral Home, 425 Daniel Webster Hwy, Merrimack Thursday from 5-8 PM. A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated in St. John the Baptist Church, 10 School St., Suncook, NH Friday at 10 AM. Burial will follow in NH State Veterans Cemetery, Boscawen, NH.
