CATAWBA -- Wilma Viola Brown (Pill) Alexander, 89, of 2322 Clyde Road died
Thursday, October 7, 2004, at her residence.
Mrs. Alexander was born July 29, 1915, in Catawba County, and was the
daughter of the late Joseph William and Ada Beal Brown. On June 20, 1936,
she married Marvin Sloan Alexander who preceded her in death on September
30, 2001. She was a member of Olivet Baptist Church where she taught
Sunday School for 70 years, and was a member of the WMU and the United
Fellowship Senior Citizen Club. She was a great entertainer at community
gatherings and played the character of ?Aunt Fannie.? She also played in
the Lake Norman Senior Citizens Band.
She is survived by two daughters: Brenda Jo A. Valentine of Conover and
Dinah Frances A. Hargis and her husband, Mel, of Catawba; two
grandchildren: Mitchell Valentine and his wife, Chellie of Gastonia and
Stacy Pritchard and her husband, Brendon, of Bethlehem, NC; two
great-grandchildren: Tanner Valentine of Gastonia and Luke Pritchard of
Bethlehem, NC; and two sisters: Frances Lytton of Claremont and Una Mae
Brown of Catawba.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two
brothers: Malcolm Brown and James Brown and three sisters: Lucille
Johnston, Aileen Thomas, and Thelma Eades.
Funeral services will be held 4:00 p.m. Saturday at Olivet Baptist Church
with Rev. Coy Privette officiating. The body will lie in state 30 minutes
prior to the funeral hour and burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 2:00 to 3:45 p.m. in the fellowship
hall of the church Saturday, prior to the funeral.
