William Waite Obituary

1933 - 2009
William V. Waite, age 76, of Hot Springs, went to be with the Lord, Sunday, April 19, 2009.

He was born on January 8, 1933, at Point Cedar, the son of Grant Baker Waite and Hattie Ray Boone Waite. He was preceded in death by his parents; His loving wife of 54 years, Mary C. Waite, who died in 2007; three brothers, Jesse Waite, Fred Wait and Charlie Wait; and five sisters, Ina Daniel, Lilly Kight, Linnie Olive, Winnie Kight and Erma Rowe.

He was a member of Center Fork Missionary Baptist Church, where he faithfully served as Deacon, former Church Trustee and choir member. He owned his own roofing contracting company for 48 years, before retiring and was a veteran of the United States Army.

He was a very hard working, loving husband, father, grandfather and friend. He was a man of few words. William led not by words, but through his actions and deeds, always setting the example for others.

He is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Tresa and Lance Bond of Hot Springs; and Karen and Mark West of Hot Springs; three grandchildren, Heath Bond, Colton Bond, both of Hot Springs; and Ryan West and wife, Ra’Shele of Walnut Ridge; one brother and sister-in-law, Thomas and Alma Lee Waite of Pearcy; special friend, Alice Spurlin of Hot Springs; nieces, nephews and a host of friends.

Services will be held 10:00 AM, Wednesday, April 22, 2009, at Center Fork Baptist Church, with Brother Lynn Baxter and Brother Lloyd Roper officiating.

Interment will be in Pleasant Hill Cemetery, under the direction of Davis-Smith Funeral Home, Hot Springs.

Visitation will be 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM, Tuesday evening, at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Ralph Pinkerton, Lynn Bradley, Gordon Fendley, Sam Mullins, Mike Hawley and Melvin Daniel.

Honorary pallbearers will be John Tackett, Center Fork Baptist Church Sanctuary Choir and Orchestra, the Deacons of Center Fork Baptist Church, Bro. Paul Halbert and Bro. Bill Driggers.

Memorials may be made in William’s name to Center Fork Baptist Church Sanctuary Choir, Music and Drama Department fund, C/O Center Fork Baptist Church, 1101 S. Moore Road, Hot Springs, AR 71913.
