Phyllis (Piszcz) Edwards, 85, of Fall River, died peacefully in her sleep on Monday night, September 21, 2009 at Catholic Memorial Home. She was the wife of the late Ernest Edwards.
Born in Fall River, MA, she was a daughter of the late Felix and Aniela (Dopart) Piszcz; she was a lifelong resident of Fall River.
Mrs. Edwards worked at Swan Cleaners and then as a seamstress at Bess Dress, both in Fall River. She was a lifelong communicant of St. Stanislaus Church. She worked in the kitchen at the parish bingo for many years and worked as one of the Pierogi Ladies making Polish food for the annual parish festival. She was also an avid reader having read hundreds of books. She enjoyed cooking, baking, sewing and spending time with her children and grandchildren.
She is survived by a daughter, Susan P. Coroa and her husband Atty. John G. Coroa of Somerset; a son, Ernest M. Edwards and his wife Kathy of Fall River; four grandchildren; Matthew G. and John E. Coroa of Somerset, Kyle M. Edwards of Fall River and Jennifer Kelley of Woodstock, CT; and several nieces and nephews.
She was the sister of the late Henrietta Barnett, Dorothy Larue, Celia Michonski, Walter Stanley, John, Romeo, Edwin and Alfred Piszsz.
Her funeral will be held Saturday at 9 a.m. from the OLIVEIRA FUNERAL HOME, 2064 South Main St., followed by a Funeral Mass at 10 a.m. in St. Stanislaus Church, Rockland St. Interment in Notre Dame Cemetery. Visitation morning of funeral 8:15 – 9:15 a.m.
