BANNER - Edward Joe Ainsworth Jr., 79, died Tuesday, June 17, 2003, at the Mississippi State Veterans Home in Oxford. He was born July 10, 1923, in Jackson to Edward Joe Ainsworth Sr. and Lucille Wilson Ainsworth. He was a retired City of Jackson police officer and fireman with 22 years of service. He was a gunner's mate in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was a member of Drivers Flat Baptist Church.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Parker Memorial Funeral Home Chapel in Bruce with Bro. Jimmy Sockwell and the Rev. Lamar Chamblee officiating. Burial will be in Memory Memorial Gardens in Bruce.
Survivors include his wife, Addie Kelley Ainsworth of Banner; two daughters, Dawn Keen of Braxton and Tanyia Moore of Madison; two sons, Edward Joe Ainsworth III and David Ainsworth, both of Jackson; two brothers, Rudy Ainsworth and Billy Ainsworth, both of Jackson; a sister, Emma Lynn Ainsworth.
Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
