1927 - 2008
Mary Alice Holland Adams, 81, a long time resident of Columbus, MS, passed away peacefully Friday, September 5, 2008 at the home of her son in Starkville, MS.

Visitation for Mrs. Adams will be Monday September 8, 2008 from 6 – 8 PM at Lowndes Funeral Home. Funeral services will be Tuesday, September 9, 2008 at 2 PM in the Lowndes Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Gary Walker officiating and Bro. Tommy Gillon assisting. Interment will be in Friendship Cemetery, Columbus, MS with Lowndes Funeral Home, Columbus, MS directing.

Mrs. Adams was born April 27, 1927 to the late Warner and Judith Holland in State Line, MS. She was a graduate of Stephen D. Lee High School and married Raymond E. Adams on August 2, 1944. Mrs. Adams’ joy in life was her family and her church and she was a devoted and loving mother. She was eager to serve and be available for all her family and others. Her home was a haven of activity, joy, peace and comfort. She was an example of love, charity, and was a Christ like servant to all her family She was a member of East End Baptist Church for over 40 years and currently was a member of Fairview Baptist Church. She was very involved in the ministries of both churches in different seasons of her life. The Family expresses gratitude to both churches for the many gestures of love and support during this time.

Mrs. Adams was a life long member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary and the Columbus order of the Eastern Star Chapter #66, where she served as Worthy Matron. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband Ray Adams; and her brother Warner Holland, Jr.

Mrs. Adams is survived by her sons – Ray (Martha) Adams, Mobile, AL and Ronnie (Connie) Adams, Starkville, MS; daughter – Judi (J.C.) Boyle, Ethel, LA; sister – Hilda Knight, Columbus, MS; Grandchildren – Tammy (Ralph) Wood, Jennifer (Mike) Grill, Jim (Wendy) Boyle, Amy (Mike) Manning, Julie Adams, Darlene (August) Rowland, Mollie Adams and Katie Adams; Great Grandchildren – Adam Grill, Brandon Wood, Christina Wood, Ellie Grill and James Boyle.

Pallbearers will be Ralph Wood, August Rowland, Robert Malone, Bobby Ward, Bill Knight, Chip Kinght and Brandon Wood. Honorary Pallbearers will be the members of her Sunday School Classes at East End Baptist Church and Fairview Baptist Church.
