Maria Isabel Amorim, 87 of Park Street, Attleboro, passed away Thursday, December 11, 2008 in the Life Care Center of Attleboro. She was the beloved wife of the late Jacinto Furtado de Coutu.
Born Maria Isabel Amorim in St. Michael, Azores, Portugal, on April 26, 1921, she was the daughter of the late Francisco Da Silva Amorim and Maria Isabel (Pacheco) Amorim. She was raised and educated in Portugal, immigrated to New Hampshire in 1968, and later became a resident of Attleboro.
Maria was employed at the former Leach and Garner Company as a jewelry worker for many years, retiring years ago. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, and visiting and worshiping at LaSalette Shrine.
Maria is survived by a son; Antonio Amorim of Canada, a daughter; Rosa Rego of Canada, her grandchildren; Rui Rodrigues, Joseph Rodrigues, Lisa Pacheco, Roy Rego, Luis Rego, Manuel Amorim, and David Amorim. Also survived by many great-grandchildren.
She was the mother of the late Viriatia Rodrigues.
Family and friends are kindly invited to attend visiting hours on Tuesday, December 16, 2008 from 5 PM – 8 PM in the Duffy-Poule Funeral Home, 20 Peck Street, Attleboro. A funeral will be conducted on Wednesday, December 17, 2008 at 9 AM from the Duffy-Poule Funeral Home followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 AM in Holy Ghost Church, 71 Linden Street, Attleboro celebrated by the Rev. John Raposo, Pastor.
Maria will be laid to rest in St. Stephen’s Cemetery, South Main Street, Attleboro.
