Daisy Aldridge Obituary

1929 - 2009
Daisy Evelyn Reid Aldridge, 79 of Columbus, MS passed away Thursday, January 8, 2009 at her residence.

Visitation will be held Saturday, January 10, 2009 from 12 PM to 2 PM at Fairview Baptist Church, Columbus, MS. Funeral Services will be held at 2 PM at Fairview Baptist Church with Dr. Gene Henderson officiating and Bro. Mickey Dalrymple, Bro. Sammy Crawford and Bro. Jeff James assisting. A private family graveside service will be held in Murrah’s Chapel Cemetery, Lowndes County, MS with Bro. Tommy Gillon officiating, Lowndes Funeral Home, Columbus, MS directing.

Mrs. Aldridge was born on January 14, 1929 in Lowndes County, MS to the late Thomas A. Reid and Sammie Hicks Reid and was a lifetime resident of Columbus, MS. She was a charter member of Fairview Baptist Church, Columbus, MS, WMU at Fairview Baptist Church, Prime Timers, Class of 1945 Dinner Club, Birthday Club, VFW Auxiliary and Disabled Veterans Auxiliary. Mrs. Aldridge retired as a Material Services Secretary at Baptist Memorial Hospital – GT, Columbus, MS with twenty-three years of service. She was well known to her friends and family for many reasons. Several of you will remember her sweet smile greeting you with a fresh baked caramel cake, her homemade hot pickles, roses from her garden, or a hot bowl of homemade vegetable soup. Some may have received a get well card from her, a prayer or a visit just to say hello. However she touched your life, she surely did it with Christ’s love. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband - Truman Aldridge and sisters - Juanita Hicks Reid and Lillian Reid Edwards.

Mrs. Aldridge is survived by her daughter – Lura (Donnie) Brown, Columbus, MS; son – Mike Aldridge, Northport, AL; grandchildren – Maris (Brad) Braddock, Meredith (Matthew) Weeks, James David Aldridge, and Douglas Ryan Aldridge; great-grandchildren – Reid Aldridge, Austin Braddock and Bryce Braddock.

Pallbearers will be Brad Braddock, Matthew Weeks, David Aldridge, Doug Aldridge, Austin Braddock, Reid Aldridge and Bryce Braddock. Honorary Pallbearers will be Wayne West, Ralph Taylor, Annie Peoples, Louise Jennings, Gail Rodgers, Audrey Adair, Martha Irwin’s Sunday School Class and Dr. Ben Ogletree and staff.
