Julianne Fritzsche Obituary

KALKASKA — Julianne Fritzsche began her new life on Friday, June 12, 2009, at home surrounded by her family, after a courageous two and a half year battle with cancer.

Born in Lansing on May 10, 1954, to parents Barbara and Jack Otto, her father always called her his "birthday girl." Both were born on the 10th of May, in the same hospital. Their mothers had the same room in that hospital and were both 29 when they gave birth. Julie and her dad are both the third child in their families and share the initials J.O. They also share the same wedding anniversary date of December 20th.

Julie graduated from Grosse Pointe North High School in 1972, and earned an associate's degree from Northwood University in 1974, where she met and fell in love with Daniel Fritzsche. They were married Dec. 20, 1974. Julie and Dan lived in the U.P. (Marquette and Big Bay), out in the woods beyond the utility lines, for four years until they started a family and moved to Kalkaska in 1978.

Julie devoted her life to raising her beautiful family of three daughters and one son. Family always came first, but she opened her home to anyone in need, humans or four-footed. She lived life her way, to the fullest, with joyful enthusiasm, loving the Lord with all her heart. Julie inspired others to live with love, dignity, and most importantly hope!

She was preceded in death by her mother, Barbara Otto; father-in-law, Ralph Fritzsche; and sister-in-law, Valerie Otto.

She is survived by her loving husband of 34 years, Dan; daughters, Dawn of Alden, Christina of Traverse City, and Cassandra Saunders (Bree) of Alden; son, Andrew Daniel; grand children, Samantha Fritzsche, Samuel Jack Saunders and Madelyn May Saunders; father, Jack Otto of Glen Arbor; mother-in-law, Mae Fritzsche of Alden; siblings; Linda Senese (Robert) of Jackson, James Otto (Gail) of Clarkston, Tom Otto of Clinton Township, Nancy Zeller (Frank) of Cody, Wy.; sister-in-law, Debbie Bailey (Ken) of Lansdale, Pa.; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, July 11, at the Antrim Church of Christ, 10228 South U.S. 131, Mancelona, MI 49659.
