Leonard William Houser, 90, of Blairsville, PA died on Friday, August 22, 2003 in the Keeper of the Flame, Blairsville, PA.
A son of Bert M. and Flo Marietta Houser, he was born April 13, 1913 in Blairsville, PA.
Mr. Houser lived in Blairsville his entire life and was a member of the Hebron Lutheran Church, Blairsville, PA. He graduated from Blairsville High School with the class of 1932.
Prior to his retirement in 1975, he was employed by Blairsville Wilbert Vault Company for 34 years.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving in Panama and WWII.
Surviving are three children, two sons, Leonard M. “Hop” Houser and his wife, Patricia, Penn Hills, PA; Raymond A. Houser and his wife, Mary Ann, Blairsville, PA; a daughter, Alice Winship and her husband, Donald, Independence, Missouri; five grandchildren, David Winship; Rick Winship; Cindi Sklar; Jeffrey Houser and Michael Houser; four great grandchildren; a brother, Arthur P. Houser, Durham, North Carolina and a step-sister, Betty June Rowley, Blairsville, PA.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Ruth E. Darnley Houser in 1996; stepmother, Letha Houser; a brother, Neal Houser and two sisters, Catherine Kinish and Eva “Dolly” Weber.
The family will receive friends on Sunday from 7 to 9 P.M. at the Shoemaker Funeral Home, Inc., 49 N. Walnut St., Blairsville, PA. Services will be held on Monday at 11:00 A.M. in the funeral home with Pastor Karen R. Taylor officiating.
Interment will be in the Blairsville Cemetery, Blairsville, PA.
