Hazel J. Anderson

Hazel J. Anderson, 77, formerly of Afton, passed away on Thursday morning, August 26, 2010, at Augusta Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

She was born on Monday, August 14, 1933, in Faber, Virginia, a daughter of Hannah Louise Marshall Gibson and the late Everette E. Gibson Sr.

She was owner and operator of Anderson's Produce, an avid BINGO player and loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Anderson; a brother, William "Billy" Gibson; and a sister, Margie Scott.

In addition to her mother, she is survived by her children, Wanda Brown and her husband, James, Richard Anderson, Jeffery Anderson and his wife, Dawn, all of Waynesboro, Diane Kelso and her husband, Mike, of Greenwood, Virginia; grandchildren, Michelle Brown, Forrest Jones III, Tara Jones, Richie Anderson, Travis and Timothy Anderson, Michael Kelso Jr. and Bryan Kelso; great-grandchildren, Patricia, Michael Wayne III, and Rebecca Kelso; and a brother, Everette "Buddy" Gibson Jr.

A funeral service will be conducted 3 p.m. Sunday, August 29, 2010, at Hebron Baptist Church, 66 Tanbark Drive, Afton, Virginia, with Pastor Todd Brown officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery.

Active pallbearers will be family and friends attending the service.

The family will receive relatives and friends from 6 until 8 p.m. Saturday, August 28, 2010, at the Waynesboro Chapel of Reynolds Hamrick Funeral Homes and Crematory, 618 West Main Street, Waynesboro, Virginia.

Memorial contributions may be made to the family, in care of the funeral home, 618 West Main Street, Waynesboro, VA 22980, to help with expenses.
