Nancy Buckley Ashley, 90 of Columbus, MS passed away Saturday, September 4, 2010 at her residence.

Visitation for Mrs. Ashley was Sunday, September 5, 2010 from 6:00 P.M. 8:00 P.M. at Lowndes Funeral Home, Columbus, MS. Funeral Services were Monday, September 6, 2010 at 2:00 P.M. at Mt. Zion Baptist Church, Columbus, MS. Bro. Steve Lammons, officiating and Bro. Ralph Windle, assisting. Interment was in Mt. Zion Baptist Church Cemetery, Columbus, MS with Lowndes Funeral Home, Columbus, MS directing.

Mrs. Ashley was born July 6, 1920 in New Hebron, MS to the late Cabe & Edna Benson Buckley and lived in the New Hope area 57 years having moved from Georgetown, MS. Mrs. Ashley was member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church, 55+ at Mt. Zion, the WMU Ruth Circle, she was a Sunday school teacher and worked in Vacation Bible School. She graduated from MSCW and was a member of the Mississippi Education Assoc. She retired in 1984 from Lowndes County Schools after 25 years of teaching. She loved gardening, flowers, working in the yard and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Ashley was preceded in death by her husband, James Arvil Ashley.

Mrs. Ashley is survived by her daughter- Alice Ann McCutcheon, Columbus; MS, sisters Mettie Sue Donnelley, Greenwood, MS & Peggy Bass Prentiss, MS; sister-in-law Nora Little, Hopewell, MS; grandchildren Misti (Mark) Murphy, Cullman, AL & Ashley Caldwell, Columbus, MS; great-grandchildren Jace Caldwell, Brian Murphy, Brooks Murphy & Anna Grace Murphy.

Pallbearers were Ray Crane, Hardy Hester, Terry Fitch, Ronnie Coburn, James Massey and Bobby Brandon. Honorary Pallbearers were B.C. Junkin, Joy Sunday School Class, James Ervin Oswalt, Bobby & Bobbie Ann Suggs, Charles & Tommie Dean Richardson, Danny Kirkley, Nancy Vaughn, Annette Pennington, B.J. Taylor, Diane Triplett, Bonnie Mason, Donald Murphy, Dr. Wail Alnas, Dr. Michael Duckworth, Dr. Chad Altmyer, and Joe Studdard.
