Alfred F. Anderson, 81, of Newport, passed away at his home on Wednesday, October 19.
He was born in Medford, Massachusetts on May 2, 1924, the son of William M. and Nora F. (Murphy) Anderson. Alfred served in the US Army and the US Air Force and was a veteran of WWII. He worked as an engineer for the US government. He enjoyed photography and was interested in electronics and technology.
Alfred is survived by his brothers, Fr. William Reinhold Anderson of Newport, retired Pastor of St. Camillus Church in Arlington, Massachusetts, and Neil Paul Anderson and his wife Anne of Florida, and by his nieces and nephews, William J. Anderson, Paul F. Anderson, Sean P. Anderson, and Neila Decelle and her husband Paul. He was predeceased by his sister, Ruth V. Anderson.
Friends may call at the Curtis-Britch-Converse-Rushford Funeral Home, Darling Hill Road, Newport (formerly Sias Ave.) on Thursday, October 20 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Friday, October 21 at St. Mary’s Star of the Sea Catholic Church in Newport at 9:00 a.m. with the Rev. Yvon Royer officiating. Interment will follow at the Oak Grove cemetery in Medford, Massachusetts at 2:00 p.m. with the Rev. David Meskill officiating.
