Sylvia Mae Brown, 85, of Independence, MO, passed away November 16, 2011 in Santa Rosa, CA. She was born February 12, 1926 in Nashville, MO, the daughter of Alvin M. and Katherine (Jarboe) Miller. Sylvia worked for Lake City for 25 years.
She was a member of St. Mary's Church, President of Circle 9, member of the quilting group, Altar and Rosary Society, and served as a Sacristan and Eucharistic Minister. She received the Bishop Award and was part of the Historical Society of St. Mary's Church. Sylvia loved her gardening and knew how to enjoy life.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 34 years, Louis Brown , and son William M. Alkire .
Survivors include 2 daughters, Linda (Gary) McLaughlin of Colorado Springs, Co, Cynthia (Steve) Circo of Belton, MO, 1 son, Clinton Alkire of Indep., MO, 2 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren, and 1 sister, Mary Jo Prince.
Funeral Mass will be 10:00 A.M., Wednesday, November 23, 2011 at St. Mary's Catholic Church. Visitation will be 8:30 to 9:30 A.M. prior to the Mass. Burial in New Salem Cemetery.
