McNamara, Donald Anthony age 84, formerly of North Oaks, MN passed away suddenly on January 7, 2014. He was born November 12, 1929 in Yonkers, NY and had been a Florida resident for 20 years. He was a member of Alpha Sigma Phi, graduating from Cornell University in Ithaca, NY in 1951. Don proudly served his country as a fighter pilot flying F-86s during the Korean War. In April 1955, while still in the Air Force, he married USAF flight nurse Ann Hensley. Upon his return to civilian life in November 1955, he began a 36-year career with 3M (Minnesota Mining and Manufacturing) in the international division. His career as an executive gave him the opportunity to travel and live all over the world. Don and Ann were avid golfers and enjoyed traveling after Don retired from 3M in 1993. They settled in Ponte Vedra Beach, FL where he spent much of his time volunteering with the Society of St. Vincent de Paul in Jacksonville Beach. He was a member of the American Legion, Korean War Veterans Association, a life member of the VFW, and a life member and past President of the F-86 Sabre Pilots Society. He is survived by Ann, his loving wife of 58 years; daughters Diane, Susan (Dan), Patty (Tony); and son Donny (Faith). Don was the proud grandfather of 8 grandchildren, Alexa, T.J., Kylie, Cara, Connor, Nicholas, Aidan, and Luke, who will miss their Grandpa very much. He is preceded in death by his parents James Edward McNamara and Marie Brennan McNamara and older brother James as well as many lifelong close friends. Don is survived by his brother John (Jay) McNamara. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Saturday, January 25, 2014 In Our Lady Star of the Sea in Ponte Vedra Beach, FL.
