Franklin…Leona “Lee” Albert, 90, a resident of Goldencrest in Franklin, formerly of Prospect St., died at Franklin Regional Hospital on Jan. 12, 2004.
She was born in Mass. on Feb. 2, 1913 the daughter of Richard and Mary Ann (Cormier) Albert.
Lee lived in Franklin since 1962, She worked at The Sulloway Hosiery Co. for 14 years and went on to work for Hartford Spinning from 1943 to 1961. Later, she applied and won a full scholarship to The Connecticut Institute of Hairdressing. Lee worked in New York and Connecticut following school. She returned to Franklin and eventually purchased the Kurl Shop from which she retired in 1986. She is a past president of The NH Cosmetologist Assn.
Lee volunteered for several groups throughout her life. She volunteered at Franklin Regional Hospital for many years and was a life member of The Franklin Regional Hospital Auxiliary. She also was a member and volunteer for Franklin Business & Professional Woman’s Group, Franklin Senior Citizens, and St. Paul Church.
She was a longtime member of The Catholic Daughters of America Court Annie Nesmith. Lee was also one of the original members of the H.O.P. Kitchen Band (she was the original drummer) at Franklin Regional Hospital.
Family members include 2 sisters: Mrs. Earl (Isabelle) Benson of Franklin and Albertine Juneau of Blacksburg, VA, and nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brother, Walter H. Albert who died in 2002.
Visiting hours will be held Friday (Jan. 16) from 6-8:00 pm at Thibault-Neun Funeral Home, 143 Franklin St., Franklin. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday (Jan. 17) morning at 11:00 am in St. Paul Church, School St., Franklin. Spring burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery.
