Simone Burns Obituary

1937 - 2004
SHELDON – Simone G. (Robert) Burns, age 67, died unexpectedly Tuesday morning June 15, 2004 at the Fletcher Allen Health Care in Burlington.

She was born March 16, 1937 in Enosburg Center the daughter of the late Albert & Leontine (Gengron) Robert. On February 14, 1953 she married Bernard E. Burns at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Fairfield; he predeceased her September 25, 2002.

A very hard worker for all of her life, she worked side by side with her husband on their dairy farm. She also worked with her son Dan, on the farm for many years. A loving mother, grandmother, sister and sister-in-law, she was probably the most unselfish person any of us will ever have the pleasure of knowing. She loved to cook, make sure that anyone who came to her house never went away hungry and there was never a lack of coffee available. An avid gardener, she had a green thumb that went all the way up to her shoulder.

Grandma was always there for her grandchildren, going to all of their school events, taking care of them from the time they were babies. Samantha was her best buddy, spending as much time as she could with her grandmother, happily beating her at playing Yatzee.

She is survived by her daughter, Penelope LaRochelle and her husband Howard of Fairfax; her son, Dan Burns and his partner Stacy Silloway of West Berkshire; Dan’s children, David Ryan Burns of East Fairfield, and Samantha Burns of Fairfield; Stacy’s son, Daniel O’Brien of West Berkshire; her sisters, Therese Demar and her husband Mitchell of Montgomery Ctr., Pauline Lefebvre and her husband Richard of Hoosick Falls, NY, and Claire Suiter of Spokane, WA; her brothers, Hector Robert of Enosburg Ctr., and Paul Robert of Montgomery Ctr.; her sisters-in-law, Edith Fiske of Enosburg, Lorraine Tracy of Enosburg Ctr., and Doris Burns of St. Albans; her brothers-in-law, Ronald Burns and his wife Lucille of Madrid, NY, and Donald Burns and his wife Connie of Richford; many nieces and nephews. Besides her husband, she was predeceased by her son, David Allen Burns; a brother, Patrick Robert; 2 sisters, Mary Jane Murray, and Aurore “Oria” Lawton.

Funeral services will be held Friday morning June 18, 2004 at 11:00 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church with Rev. Benedict Kiely celebrating the mass of Christian burial. Interment will follow in St. John the Baptist Cemetery.
